So, as was expected the holiday shopping season 2011 kicks off again with Black Friday 2011 evolving into Black November sales. The retailers are continuing a trend we saw last year and everyone benefits. Similar to the last year, the biggest retailers and store chains willing to court holiday shoppers in advance have already started to inform customers about their plans to extend opening hours and offer incredible deals starting on November, 1st.
Wal-Mart Holiday 2011 price-matching program
WalMart Stores has announced their price-matching program to guarantee that holiday shoppers will snag the best deal on many items purchased at the world’s biggest retailer chain. Between November, 1st and December, 25th, Wal-Mart customers who buy an eligible item at their discount chain and then later find the same product at a lower price at any other competitor’s store, will be issued a shopping gift card for the the amount of difference. To claim a gift card the consumer is required to have in the original WalMart store receipt along with the competitor’s printed ad.W

Target opens at midnight on Black Friday 2011
Target Corp. announced that their stores will open their doors at midnight on Black Friday, November 25th. So far that’s their earliest opening time for the day after Thanksgiving – four hours earlier than the last year. The Target stores will be open for 23 hours and close at 11 p.m. November. 25th. Target’s also informing customers about extended store open hours throughout the Holiday shopping season, incl. the Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas.
Lat year’s holiday shopping season kick-off overtook Thanksgiving Day, when Kmart and Sears and stores opened their doors Thanksgiving morning and Walmart opened most of their “not around the clock” stores at Thanksgiving midnight. Toys R Us stores holiday sales started at 10 p.m. on after Thanksgiving Day and many other retail stores across the U.S. were open.

1000 of Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores open on Thanksgiving Day
Gap Inc., announced that about 1,000 of the owner of Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day 2011 joining Kohl’s, Macy’s, Target and Walmart that have done it earlier. According to Gap press-release from Tuesday, November 8th about 80 percent of Old Navy stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day. The rest of Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic stores will open at midnight on Black Friday, November 25th.
