/2010-08-03/New credit card rules to get completely effective in August
Since the card act passed Congress new rules will protect customers, whether they pay off the balance when the bill comes, accordingly to Consumer Reports survey 54% from us, or make minimum payments.
The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009, or simply the Credit CARD Act, will be effective from February 22, 2010. Some portions of the new act will become effective in August 2010.
Don't fall in possible traps of card issuers
According to the new rules many card issuers increased rates and late fees this summer. Most of major credit cards will now carry an annual percentage rate of 29.99%. The CARD Act contains numerous practices that were profitable for credit card companies. Thus, be aware that some card issuer may try to compensate lost revenue in some other ways.
